The sayings of Jesus will always have a greater impact on us the longer we study them. They take a lifetime to understand and apply. This is why Adult Education at Eden Church is so passionate about our task! The groups provide opportunities to connect, discover and grow together. We offer a wide range of sessions from being men of faith to parenting to prayer, or Bible verses while sharing a meal together. Sunday morning and evening, and weekday and evening groups are available. Please contact the church office for more information and a listing of current classes.
Adult Sunday School Class – Meeting the Spirit
Who is the Holy Spirit? How does He change our lives? How does He work in the world? The Adult Sunday School Class is studying “Meeting the Spirit”
by Douglas Connelly to help us examine these and other critical questions. We are covering specific aspects of the Spirit, such as how the Holy Spirit speaks, renews, empowers, guides, and equips us. The Spirit of God is eager to work in your life and draw you to God. Please join us on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall.
Wednesday Morning Men’s Bible Study
The Men meet on Wednesday mornings at 6:30 AM in the Fellowship Hall and others join remotely by Zoom. Breakfast is provided each week. The men have submitted questions to Pastor Roberts to be answered from week to week. You may join this study at any time. To receive the Zoom meeting information or to receive a copy of the questions to be discussed, please contact Pastor Roberts at pastor@edenchurch-edw.org.
Wednesday Night Bible Study: Why the Nativity?
Eden’s Wednesday Night Adult Bible Study Group will begin studying Why the Nativity? by Dr. David Jeremiah on Wed, October 11th. The true reason we celebrate Christmas is that God sent His only begotten Son to be our Savior. This event changed the world! Christmas is about God’s plan of salvation, which He set in motion before time began. In Why the Nativity?, Dr. Jeremiah discloses how the most minute details of Christ’s birth were foretold in Old Testament prophecies. From the Davidic lineage of Jesus and His virgin birth to the worship by angelic hosts, common shepherds, and Wise Men, God was pointing us to the birth of the Messiah. Our class meets on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in Classrooms 1302/1303. Contact Linda Romann (Mobile: 618-560-9532 / Email: lromann@sbcglobal.net) for more information about our study.
Wednesday Bible Study 2
The Wednesday Evening Bible Study is reviewing each book of the Bible through viewing the “BibleProject,” which is a library of online videos that help explain the Bible as a story that leads to Jesus. The group is coupling these videos with reading “Know Your Bible-All 66 Books Explained and Applied.” The combination of the two provides an overview of each book in the Bible. We meet on Wednesday nights at 7:00p through Zoom video conferencing. Please contact Denise Engelke at 618-973-0780 for more details on how to get involved. We hope to hear from you!
Friday Women’s Bible Study - Respectable Sins
Eden’s Friday Women’s Bible Study Group is studying the book of Respectable Sins by JerryBridges. Have we become so preoccupied with the major sins of our society that we have lost sight of our need to deal with our own more subtle sins? Our group will tackle specific “acceptable” sins that we tend to tolerate in ourselves and others, such as anxiety, impatience, jealousy, anger, pride, unthankfulness, and discontentment. This study may step on our toes but we will hear the message of hope in the profound
mercy of the gospel and the transforming grace of God as the means to overcoming our subtle sins. Our class meets at 12:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Fridays of each month in Classroom B/C. Contact Nancy Kruckeberg (Call or Text: 618-920-6941 / Email: nkruck85@gmail.com) for more information on joining our group.
