Rev. John Roberts
Pastor Roberts graduated from Appalachian State University (Boone, NC) in 1992 with a B.S. in Applied Physics. In 1995 he received his Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary (St. Louis, MO).
Born in North Carolina, Pastor Roberts was raised in his parents’ hometown of Landis. He graduated from high school and entered the USMC Reserves and Appalachian State University with dreams of a military service career. During college, John felt God’s call to Christian ministry and moved to St. Louis to attend Eden Theological Seminary. John completed his theological schooling in 1995 and returned to North Carolina. He was ordained at his home Church in June and began serving at Hedrick’s Grove UCC in Lexington, North Carolina the same month. While serving at Hedrick’s Grove, John met his wife Jami. John and Jami have three children.
Rev. Dr. Wesley Bornemann
Organist and Accompanist
Bill began studying piano at age 9, then at age 12 he was encouraged to pursue organ study. At age fourteen he began to serve as organist at Our Lord’s Lutheran Church, Collinsville, a position he held until 1983. After traveling with a show band for several years, Bill earned a B.M. in Church Music from Valparaiso University in 1992. He pursued graduate study at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and served an internship at St. Mary’s Episcopal, Kansas City. Bill has been Eden’s Organist and Accompanist since 1996. He has two adult sons, Chris and Nathan, and lives in Glen Carbon with his wife, Cindy, and their couch beagle, Cocoa.
Garold has been on staff since 2012. He and his wife Sally were born and raised in Kansas. He graduated from KansasState College of Pittsburg, Kansas with a degree in accounting. Job opportunities moved them thru five states finally settling in Illinois. Besides his wife, Sally, he has two sons, David and Chris. He has two grandchildren Elizabeth and Ryan. Garold and Sally are members of Eden UCC.
Director of Worship Arts
Karen attended college at Concordia University in Irvine, California, and graduated with a B.A. in Music, with an emphasis in Worship Arts. She has been on staff at Eden since 2012. Karen has been playing piano and singing from a very young age, and even once told her mother, “I can’t come in, I’m singing!” Karen has a passion for worship and sharing the Gospel through music. She can’t think of anything else she would rather do. Karen lives in St. Louis with her husband, Mike, their two sons, Meyer and Eli, and their dog, Bella.
Terri McDougal has been serving as our custodian since 2017. She and her husband live in Marine with their four children.
Family Ministry Coordinator
Susan was a member at Eden Church for seven years before serving as the Family Ministry Coordinator. She graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education and a minor in music. Since 2011, she has been teaching both formally and informally and believes God has used those experiences to help prepare her for her new position. She is excited to be doing God’s work and sharing the Good News with children and families in our community. Susan grew up in Glen Carbon and now lives in Troy with her husband (Brooks), two daughters (Bethany and Evelyn), and big puppy (Riley).
Director of Discipleship
Erin has served Eden in the role of Director of Discipleship since 2004. She oversees the Children’s Sunday School ministry, and is directly responsible for the youth ministry at Eden. She is a life long resident of Edwardsville, and grew up at Eden. After graduating high school, Erin went to Greenville College and majored in Youth Ministry and Sociology. She later returned to Greenville for her masters in Church Leadership. Erin met her husband, Adam, at Greenville and has a daughter and a son. Her desire is to see youth come to understand the abundant life Jesus gives, and for the Church to be strengthened to advance God’s kingdom.
Angel Steinway is excited to be joining the staff at Eden Church as the Ministry Assistant. She lives in Pontoon Beach with her husband, Mike, they have four adult children and ten grandchildren. Angel loves to read, garden, paint and do fun Arts & Crafts with her grandkids. She also enjoys working with the grandkids little league & soft ball teams. She has 4 dogs, 3 cats and lots of fish.
